Subterranean termites are foraging insects that live in the ground. They are very small (ant size) and live in large colonies. The colonies contain three castes. They are the workers, soldiers and reproductives. Each group has their own responsibilities and functions and the colony can not survive without the contribution of each one.

The two groups that get most attention from a property owner is the worker and reproductive. The worker is often found feeding in and around the structure. Workers forage for food, find it, consume it and feed it to the other colony members. When termite damage is found it is always the result of worker termite activity.

The reproductive group are also an attention getter. As a colony of termites matures and expands swarming activity will occur. This event, which is common primarily in the spring, will usually involve thousands of individual reproductive termites. It is a real show when it occurs in a school class room, operating room or home. Although reproductives do not cause damage they indicate that a termite colony is infesting the area and control measures are needed.

How Are They Controlled?

There are two primary methods used to treat and control termite activity.

A liquid termiticide treatment involves applying a liquid termiticide, such as Termidor SC to the soil under and adjacent to a home or building. The purpose of this application method is to create an unseen barrier that will impact the termites foraging around the property.

A bait treatment is also a tool used by pest control operators. A bait system such as the Sentricon® Termite Colony Elimination System with Always ActiveTM eliminates the termites foraging around the building. This is a procedure we have been using since 1998. It has proven itself time and again to be an excellent choice. The Sentricon® system provides protection with minor disturbance to soil and structure. Also, it is a favorite of those consumers who prefer a termite control service with minimal chemical usage.

How Much Does It Cost?

The cost of termite control services will vary with the size of the structure and the type of treatment procedure.

Our services are customized to meet the individual needs of each situation. This allows us the opportunity to provide a service that is not only 100% guaranteed but at a price that is fair and acceptable.

When you contact our office we can provide a general price range and answer any questions you will have. We offer service contracts that are renewable and transferable.
